Crystals exert a special magic, their shape, coloration and brilliance have fascinated since time immemorial. In some cases, the beauty of a crystal is only revealed thanks to modern research methods. The tourmaline variation Schörl, which is common in Austria, is completely black and inconspicuous on the outside. When it is cut into wafer-thin platelets and placed under a microscope, wonderful microstructures of captivating precision and surprising color brilliance are found in the crystals. Curated by chemist Paul Rustemeyer, the exhibition "Crystal Magic - Fascinating Worlds in Dark Tourmalines" is an aesthetic and unusual expedition into the surprising inner life of tourmaline crystals.
